Show Racism the Red Card Anti-Racist School Competition 2010

  • Open to Scottish Schools

Show Racism the Red Card has joined forces with the Scottish Government, Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), the Scottish Football Association (SFA) and other key partners to develop and promote our 2012 creative competition.

We know that there is a phenomenal creative talent in Scotland’s schools and colleges and we want to use that talent to get across the message that racism and sectarianism has no place in Scotland, the 2012 competition is the first time ever that the competition is promting anti-racism and anti-secatrianism.

The 2012 competition is open to all Scottish Schools, Special Schools and Further Education Colleges, and it supports the main aims and capabilities of the Curriculum for Excellence.

All you have to do is develop a piece of creative work that gets across loud and clear that racism is not welcome in Scotland. This could be:

  • Artwork

  • Music or song

  • Poetry or short story

  • Dance or drama

  • Multimedia presentation

  • Research project

In fact it could be anything that is creative, inspirational and stimulated by the anti –racist theme (as long as it’s within the competition rules). Entries are welcome from individuals and class groups.

Winners will be invited to a star – studded award ceremony at Scotland’s National Stadium, Hampden Park, attended by the elite of Scottish football, to receive public acclaim for their work and pick up superb prizes.

Detailed information for teachers, full competition rules and application forms are on our website at www.sqa.org.uk/redcard . The closing date for entries is 27 January 2012.

This is a great opportunity to work with Show Racism the Red Card, the Scottish Government, the SQA, SFA and other key partners to show we are serious about making Scotland a fair and inclusive society – we hope you will be part of it.
