News in 200601st April 2006Action in SpainA great manifestation against racism and discrimination was hold on the 25th and 26th of march in Cadiz/Spain where a lot of activities against racism in football were realized. The project was part of the european united against racism action week. Various banners were prepared during the last weeks in the CEPA colective by football supporters of Cadiz CF. The banners and a "Tifo” against racism and discrimination were shown in stands of the football stadium "Ramon de Carranza”. Children of different races and nationalities displayed a banner ("Cadismo contra el racismo”) before the start of the Primera Division match between Cadiz CF and Atlético Madrid. They also wore anti-racist T-shirts ("STOP RACISMO – futbol sin fronteras”). Over the weekend, supporter groups and inhabitants of Cadiz and cadiz province took action against racism in small football stadiums. The project was called Cadismo contra la discriminacion: a football tournament took place with 16 supporter groups, ex-football players and workers of Cadiz C.F.. There were games and workshops with children in order to educate them about forms of discrimination and to learn about other cultures and countries, it was a great success. An exibition displayed the actions and initiatives of football supporters and football associations against racism and discrimination in European football. A flyer about the project and the European action week of the UNITED network were distributed. The participants donated money for a local childrens group. The money will be used to fund a summer holiday for a group of children. CEPA – Andalucia, Cadiz C.F., the supporters federation, the groups Brigadas Amarillas and Hinchas Carranza, the Kalahari colective, the regional government Junta de Andalucia and various youth organisations all took part in the events. The CEPA project "Cadismo contra el racismo” was organised by the "anti-discrimination table”, initiated in January by CEPA, they were joined by representatives of Cadiz C.F., the supporters federation, Junta de Andalucia, the supporter groups Brigadas Amarillas and Hinchas Carranza. The aim of the "anti-discrimination table" is to work together in acting against racism and discrimination in Spanish football. |
