Red is the colour

Leith based Redpath Albion Sports Club, in partnership with Leith youth agencies Pilmeny Youth Centre, Citadel Youth Centre and Sikh Sanjog, hosted a very successful two-day event to celebrate Show Racism the Red Card "Fortnight of Action" at Pilrig Park for the second year in succession.

The two-day celebration allowed young people from the local community to try their soccer skills with Redpath Albion coaches delivering activities based around football, fitness and health.

Staff from the Citadel and Sikh Sanjog also helped out with quizzes and discussions based on anti-racism.

This was also the first time that girls from the Sikh community and boys from Eastern European countries were involved. T-shirts, and various merchandise promoting the Red Card message were supplied free of charge by Edinburgh City Council's Community Learning and Development, Edinburgh North and Leith Youth and Children's work team. These positive and successful initiatives to bring together kids from all different backgrounds are exceptional examples of all the good work currently being undertaken by different agencies.
