The third England World Cup poster launch at Hillsborough, Sheffield.
On the road again launching the SRtRC England World Cup poster in all 2018 bid host cities and this time the city was Sheffield. Sheffield Wednesday FC have been chosen as the Sheffield's venue should England be successful in securing the World Cup in 2018.
Around 100 local school children attended the two hour event at Hillsborough. The SRtRC education team led a fantastic educational workshop; exploring stereotypes, defining racism, discussing racist language and celebrating multi-culturalism.
After this, the audience was very excited to meet current Owls player and Jamaican international, Jermaine Johnson. Jermaine joined the young people in watching the SRtRC DVD and then answered some of the young people's questions on racism. SRtRC coach and former Middlesborough and Crystal Palace player, Dean Gordon, and SRtRC Community Education Worker, Lizz Bennett also gave their answers to some very challenging questions from the audience. Prizes were awarded to the best 3 questions.
Everyone who attended received a SRtRC goody bag, signed Sheffield Wednesday poster and a copy of the England World Cup poster.
Many thanks to Owls Manager and SRtRC patron, Alan Irvine and Chairman Lee Strafford for their support and particular thanks to Spencer Taylor and Steve Taylor for their help in organising such a successful day.
