This Saturday sees the first of two Scottish Cup Semi Finals when Hibernian FC take on Aberdeen FC at Scotland’s National Stadium, Hampden Park. Hibs will be looking to retain their trophy after a heroic performance in last years final which saw them defeat Rangers after a dramatic end to the game. That was the first time Hibs have won the Scottish Cup in 114 years and Neil Lennon’s men will be hoping they can add to their success of this season after winning the Championship and securing promotion to top flight football, by overcoming a very strong Aberdeen side.
Aberdeen however will be looking to reach their second cup final of the season by defeating Hibs on Saturday. Aberdeen FC have had an impressive season this year as they sit second in the Scottish Premiership and they were runners up in this years League Cup final. Derek McInnes’s men have been on good form this year, they were on a five game win streak before a 3-0 defeat to Rangers two weeks ago, however they are now back to winning ways after defeating St. Johnstone FC 2-1 at the weekend.
The Hibernian v Aberdeen game will be shown live on BBC One Scotland, Sky Sports 1 & Sky Sports 2 on Saturday the 22nd of April with a 12.15pm kick off.
Sunday will see Hampden Park host the fifth Old Firm tie of the season. Brendan Rodgers Celtic side have been immense this season and have only dropped points 4 times in the league. They are looking more and more likely to go through the season unbeaten and are now only two games away from winning a domestic treble. It is only fitting, that the next two games for Celtic are against their Old Firm rivals, who will be looking to derail the remainder of their targets for the rest of the season.
Rangers will be looking to cause an upset at the weekend by defeating Celtic at the same stage they did this time last year. Rangers are looking like a better and more structured team since the appointment of their new manager Pedro Caixinha. They have had a few good results since the Portuguese Manager has come in, including an impressive 3-0 victory against Aberdeen. Rangers will be going into Sunday’s game full of confidence which is sure to make Sundays game an exciting one.
The Celtic v Rangers game will be shown live on Sky Sports 2 on Sunday the 23rd of April with a 12.00 kick off.
