Trelai primary school and Cardiff City show racism the red cardSRTRC had a successful launch of the Welsh version of its DVD and a new Cardiff City poster at Ninian Park on 16 February.


The Launch was attended by children from Trelai primary school in Cardiff we well as former Cardiff City players Gary and Dave Bennett and current players, captain Darren Purse and defender Neil Cox.


Show Racism the Red Card in WalesAfter showing the children the DVD, they were invited to ask the players questions about their experience of racism in football. Gary and Dave gave first had accounts of what had happened to them and gave advice to those present in terms of dealing with issue themselves. Gary also referred to the need to challenge all forms of discrimination, including cultural and religious.


Show Racism the Red Card in WalesAlso present at the event was Luke Clements who was the Welsh regional winner of SRTRC poster competition. Luke won a Manchester United shirt and a visit to Old Trafford for a training session with Rio Ferdinand on 14 March. Luke had his photograph taken with all the players present.


After the formalities, all the children who had asked questions came up and had their photos taken with the players and just before a tour of Ninian Park, players signed copies of the new poster for the children to take away with them.
