Women's football in Wales takes a stance

The Wales under 19 women's squad showed racism the red card prior to their UEFA European qalifiying match against Poland on the 10th April 2007 at Cae y Castell, Flint.


The players wore 'show racism the red card' t-shirts during warm up and also lined up for a team photo holding up the red cards.


Women’s football is becoming increasingly popular, not just in the UK, but around the world. The Welsh squad includes players from Cardiff City Ladies, Arsenal Ladies and Pontardawe Town Ladies, the team put up a spirited performance but lost the match 4-0.


In Wales, future talent will come through the development of the girls' game which is moving rapidly with approximately 4000 registered players participating within the seven junior and four senior leagues.
