Show Racism the Red Card in WalesThe New Saints FC22 September 2007 The New Saints FC became the first Welsh Premier League club to host an anti-racism event at their new ground 'Park Hall' as our campaign made its debut in the WPL. The club handed out complimentary tickets for their match against Newi Cefn Druids that was being played later in the afternoon as young academy players from the club were joined by their parents for the event. Joining Wales Co-ordinator Sunil Patel on the panel were John Leah, Luke Holden and the club top goal scorer Alfie Carter. After watching our DVD, the players were then asked questions from the audience during a Q & A session. The players then picked the 2 best Q's and the winners received signed shirts donated by the club. The event was concluded with the young people being given goody bags that included posters, magazines and wrist bands. Later in the afternoon, the TNS played their league match against Newi Cefn Druids and the young academy players walked onto the pitch alongside both the teams holding our Red Cards, the highlights were shown later in the evening on S4C programme, TNS won the match 3-1 with panel guest Alfie Carter scoring one of the goals. SRTRC would like to thank all who attended and the club for arranging the event, also a big thank you to our volunteer Amal. |
