Show Racism the Red Card in Wales

Welsh winners meet their heroes

30 May 2007

The Arts Competition winner with the Wales team

It was wet and windy day at Treforest playing fields, but it didn’t stop our schools competition winners enjoying their prize of watching the Wales football players in a training session prior to their European Qualifying match against the Czech Republic.

The winners from the Southern region watched the squad being put through their paces prior to their upcoming European Qualifier against the Czech Republic.

The prize which was arranged by the Football Association of Wales who are one of the supporters of our campaign in Wales. It was an extra special day for our winners as it would also be the last training session Ryan Giggs took part in for Wales due to his recent retirement from International football.

The overall winner from Wales was Sophie Howard Sophie, who lives in Cardiff, Sophie said “It was really fun watching the team. I had my picture taken with them. I’m going to tell all my friends about it.”

Show Racism the Red CardSophie’s poster, which has the headline Racism Sucks, contains a poem which reads: “You may be black, you may be white. It doesn’t matter, just please don’t fight.”

Our winner from Wrexham watched the squad in a training session at the Racecourse ground, the home of Wrexham FC.

Players including Robbie Earnshaw, Danny Gabbidon and Simon Davies are pictured with our winner who also received a signed football from Wrexham FC.

We would like to thank all clubs that donated a prize for our winners and runners up in our schools competition and for their continued support, also to the FAW for arranging their prizes.
